It seems that help desk is having issues connecting to my SQLExpress instance.
I am getting... ------------------------------------------------------------- An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) ------------------------------------------------------------- This is a trial on a box which holds the SQLInstance locally

ok I found the answer but thought I'd post the question anyway followed by the answer for others to see.
It seems that despite entering "(local)\SQLExpress" during the installation, the web.config file tried to connect to "\SQLExpress"
After correcting. Everything is golden... On with the trial.
