When NetProfileSwitch activates an SMTP setting, it adds a record to your hosts file. Please check that there's a record in your hosts file after activating a profile (the file is here - C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc )

the file is "hosts" (without any extension) please open this file in any text editor and see if theres a "NetprofileswitchSMTP" record.

Hi,
this is everything.
# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost
195.238.5.128 NetProfileSwitchSMTP # Start of entries inserted by Spybot - Search & Destroy # End of entries inserted by Spybot - Search & Destroy
When i do a ping to this ip i see from netprofileswitch smtp, i don'r receive an answer. Strange!
I also have virtual pc installed with XP on it, there i installed netprofileswitch and there it works, there i get in the folder etc at host the following ip adres 195.130.133.66 edited by C_Miles on 2/25/2008

Hello,
i found the problem. I'm running windows vista enterprise with netprofileswitch 5.41. When i activate a profile it does almost everything but not changing in the map C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc ---> hosts the ip of NetProfileSwitchSMTP. So it was on me to find out. A few days ago, i installed Spybot, just to be sure there is nothing on my pc. I think after installing this program it puts the file hosts on read only (alleen lezen). After taking of the read only, Netprofileswitch works again. Thanks for the support.
