Keyboard recorder
A keyboard recorder (aka "keystroke recorder") is simply a piece of software that records keystrokes to repeat them later and/or save them as a keyboard macro.
Unlike "keyloggers", keyboard recorders are used for automation purposes only, just like mouse recorders. The "automation 101" for keyboard recording is as follows - if something can be done with a series of keystrokes - it can be automated with a keystroke recorder.
You can automate almost anything: renaming files one-by-one, editing a text file line-by-line, copying-pasting text from some software to an Excel spreadsheet (navigating between fields by pressing the Tab key) etc. etc.
