How Help Desk Backups Work
Your help desk backup is available as a one-click download from Admin - Import and Export in your Jitbit dashboard. The backup file is updated automatically -- daily or weekly depending on your plan -- so you always have a recent copy of your data.
Once you submit a request, our engineers configure an automated publishing job that packages your entire help desk database into a downloadable file. From that point on, fresh backups appear on your admin panel without any manual intervention.
What Is Included in the Backup?
Every help desk backup contains your complete support dataset:
- All tickets and their full conversation history
- User accounts and agent profiles
- Knowledge base articles and categories
- Tags, custom fields, and SLA configurations
- File attachments linked to tickets
This means you can restore a fully functional copy of your support operation at any time -- whether for disaster recovery, compliance archiving, or migrating to Jitbit's self-hosted help desk version.
Backup File Format and How to Restore
The backup is a standard SQL Server database backup file, compressed (zipped) to minimize download size. To restore it:
- Download the backup file from your Jitbit admin panel.
- Open SQL Server Management Studio and connect to your SQL Server instance.
- Right-click Databases, then select Restore Database.
- On the General tab, set the source to the downloaded backup file and proceed.
You will need SQL Server 2022 or later (any edition, including the free Express edition) to restore the backup.
