Best Freshservice Alternatives in 2026 - Jitbit Helpdesk

Ask a room full of IT managers what they want from a service desk and you'll hear the same wish: tickets, assets, patches - everything in one place, at a price that doesn't need a board meeting. Mention ServiceNow and someone says "the cost...". Mention Freshservice and people agree it feels lighter than Jira, and its built-in asset management is honestly one of the best around. But once you pile tickets, asset tracking, patching and "all the other IT things" into it, it starts to feel like juggling three different products in one tab, and the per-agent bill climbs every time you move up a plan. Most teams end up doing what experienced admins recommend anyway: one good tool for tickets and assets, plus a separate RMM or MDM for devices and patching. And one IT manager who went looking recently ended up with ticketing for the entire organization, unlimited users, for under $1,500 a year.

So it's worth looking around. Below are the strongest alternatives to Freshservice in 2026 - from simple and cheap to full ITIL - with current pricing and honest downsides. One tip before you start: pick two or three, run a week's worth of real IT requests through each, and see which one your technicians complain about least.

What a 5-Technician IT Team Actually Pays

Most in-house IT teams have somewhere between two and ten technicians. Here is the monthly bill for five, on the plan a team that size usually needs - with SLAs, automation, and asset tracking:

Tool & plan 5 technicians, per month
Jitbit Company (up to 7 agents) $129 monthly, ~$108 annual, AI and assets included
Freshservice Pro $495, or $640 with Copilot ($245 on Growth, without problem and change management)
SysAid Professional $445
HaloITSM ~$245-495
Jira Service Management Premium ~$257 ($100 on Standard, without advanced change and problem management)
ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus Professional from $135

Across a year, that's about $1,300 for Jitbit against roughly $6,000-7,700 for Freshservice Pro. End users who submit tickets are free in every tool on this list, so the difference is purely in how many people work the queue.

1. Jitbit Helpdesk

Best for: small and mid-sized IT teams that want tickets and assets in one clean tool, without per-seat math or ITIL ceremony.

Jitbit Helpdesk ticket list in dark mode

Jitbit is the tool we build, so read this section with that in mind. If the part of Freshservice you actually use every day is the ticket queue and the asset list, Jitbit covers that with far less clutter. The ticket list, the reply box, and the asset tied to the ticket are right in front of you; the rest stays out of the way until you need it. Everyone at Jitbit, founders included, works support tickets in Jitbit every day, so we feel every extra click ourselves.

What an IT team gets:

  • Built-in asset management - hardware, software licenses and contracts, assigned to users and linked to tickets, with a full repair history per asset and CSV import from your existing spreadsheet. Included on every plan.
  • Automation rules and SLAs to route, escalate, and close tickets without manual work - also on every plan
  • AI features - suggested replies from your knowledge base, ticket summaries, and an AI chat that hands off to a technician. Your choice of GPT, Gemini, or Claude
  • Email-first ticketing - users just email IT, no portal training needed. There's also a self-service portal and knowledge base for the ones who like it
  • Active Directory and SSO, a full API, and integrations with Slack, Teams, Jira, and more

Pricing: Jitbit charges per tier, not per seat - $29 to $249 a month for the whole team, with every core feature on every plan and unlimited AI credits from the Startup plan up. Annual billing takes about two months off. If your organization wants the helpdesk on its own servers, there's a self-hosted version with a one-time license.

Downsides: Jitbit isn't a full ITIL suite. There's no formal change or problem management module, no CMDB with relationship maps, no network auto-discovery, and no patching. If you need those, pair Jitbit with your RMM or MDM (most IT teams do that anyway), or look at the ITSM tools below.

Great ticket support system for those not needing a million whistles and bells. Easy setup and not bloated like most. 100% up time and super tech support!

Jitbit is a profitable, self-funded company - no VC, no private equity. Feature requests go straight to the people who write the code, and turnaround is often days, not quarters.

2. Jira Service Management

Best for: IT teams in companies that already live in Jira and Confluence.

Jira Service Management request queue

Jira Service Management is now sold as part of Atlassian's Service Collection, bundled with Assets (their CMDB), Customer Service Management, and Rovo AI agents. The big draw is integration: an IT request can turn into a Jira issue for developers without anyone copying and pasting. The free plan covers 3 agents, which is enough for a small team to try it for real.

Pricing: free for up to 3 agents, Standard $20, Premium about $51 per agent per month on annual billing, Enterprise by quote. Assets is included up to 5,000 objects on Standard and 50,000 on Premium, then billed per object.

Downsides: advanced incident, problem, and change management moved to Premium in 2024, so the realistic ITSM price is the $51 one. Setup takes real Jira admin knowledge, and many teams end up buying Marketplace apps on top. More in Jira vs. Jitbit.

3. ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus

Best for: budget-conscious IT departments that want real ITIL processes and asset management.

ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus reporting dashboard

ServiceDesk Plus is the classic ITSM tool: incidents, problems, changes, a service catalog, CMDB, and asset management, in the cloud or on-premises. It also plugs into the rest of ManageEngine's IT products - Endpoint Central for patching, for example - which comes closest to the "everything in one place" wish, as long as you're happy to stay in one vendor's ecosystem.

Pricing: Standard from $13, Professional (adds asset management) from $27, Enterprise from $67 per technician per month. The Standard edition is free for up to 5 technicians, but without assets.

Downsides: the interface is dense and dated, and setup takes a while. "Starts from" means what it says: asset counts and add-on modules push the price up, so get a real quote before comparing.

4. HaloITSM

Best for: mid-sized IT teams that want full ITSM with one simple price and no add-ons.

HaloITSM interface

Halo is a popular next step for teams that outgrow Freshservice. Everything is in one tier: ITIL processes, CMDB and asset management, automation, AI, project management, and reporting. It's highly configurable, and the company is known for responsive support and fast development.

Pricing: a single per-agent price with no feature tiers - £66 per agent per month in the UK, and roughly $49-99 in the US depending on the number of agents. Named and concurrent licenses cost the same. 30-day free trial.

Downsides: "highly configurable" also means a lot of configuring. Expect a real implementation project, not an afternoon. Small teams pay the top of the per-agent range.

5. SysAid

Best for: IT teams that want ITSM with AI features included in the base price.

SysAid service desk

SysAid covers incident, request, problem, and change management, with asset management and a self-service portal. Their current pitch is AI: the Professional plan includes AI agents and a Copilot for technicians and end users without usage caps.

Pricing: Professional $89 per agent per month, including 250 managed assets. Enterprise is by quote and starts at 20 agents. Admin Copilot features are extra.

Downsides: at $89 per agent, it's one of the more expensive options here for a small team, and the step to Enterprise requires 20 agents.

6. ServiceNow

Best for: large enterprises with a dedicated platform team.

ServiceNow ITSM performance analytics

ServiceNow is the ceiling of this market. It can model almost any IT or business process, and big organizations standardize on it for good reason. Some people who move from Freshservice to ServiceNow find it surprisingly easy to use day to day - once someone else has spent months setting it up.

Pricing: quote only, typically with multi-year contracts and a minimum number of licenses. Implementation partners are usually part of the cost.

Downsides: cost, and the people you need to run it. For a team of 3-15 technicians, it's almost always overkill.

How to Choose

Start from the problems your IT team actually has, not the longest feature list:

  • Want tickets, assets, and patching from one vendor? ManageEngine (ServiceDesk Plus + Endpoint Central). Or pick a helpdesk you like and pair it with the RMM you already have - that's what most teams end up doing.
  • Formal ITIL processes, change advisory boards, CMDB? HaloITSM or ManageEngine. ServiceNow if you're a large enterprise.
  • Already an Atlassian shop? Jira Service Management.
  • AI in the base price, and a bigger budget? SysAid.
  • Small IT team that needs tickets and assets without the ceremony? Jitbit.
  • Colleagues from other departments who help out now and then? Per-seat pricing punishes this. Flat pricing like Jitbit's doesn't.

If you're also comparing customer-facing helpdesks, see our Freshdesk alternatives and Zendesk alternatives guides.

If a simple, flat-priced IT helpdesk sounds right, start a free Jitbit trial - no credit card required - import your assets from CSV, and run real tickets through it for a week. If you need more time to evaluate, we're happy to extend the trial.
